Will a New air Conditioner Lower my Electric Bill?

An older AC unit may have a Seasonal Energy Efficient Ratio (SEER) of seven to 10. The standard for air conditioners today is a SEER of 13, with new regulations coming to raise that number to 14 for units installed in the south eastern and south western United States. All that means is that today’s air conditioners are at least 50% more efficient than their predecessors, and cost far less to run. When you install a new air conditioner with a SEER rating of 13 or higher, you are very likely to notice a drop in your electric bill.
