Heat Pump Installation Options

Heat Pump InstallationIf you are thinking of heat pump installation for your home, you may not realize that you have several options when it comes to choosing the right one. The Arlington technicians with Metro Express Service want you to be as well informed as possible, so here is some information that will help you make the right decision.

Important Considerations When Selecting Your Model

Heat pumps have been popular since the 1950s. They’re reliable and durable, and can help save on energy bills. When considering heat pump installation for your home, however, you need to take some important factors into account. Texas is a perfect place to use a heat pump because we really need a lot of cooling in the summer but typically have small heating needs in the winter. It’s important to realize, though, that when the temperature gets abnormally low for an extended amount of time you may need a supplemental system to make sure you stay warm and comfortable.

Plenty of Models to Choose From

Here are just some of the many different types of systems from which to choose when planning your heat pump installation.

  • Single package air source – This is good for a home located in an area where installing an outdoor compressor and condenser is difficult. A single-package pump is about the same size of a furnace and uses a fan to pull in outside air.
  • Ground source heat pump – This uses the heat of the ground as opposed to the outdoor air. It is typically used more in northern climates, however, because the ground in those areas is typically much warmer than the air temperature during cold months.
  • Ductless or mini-split systems – These are usually good for older homes where this is no type of heating or cooling distribution system. If you go this route you won’t need to reconfigure your home with ductwork.
