Heating Tips to Prepare for the Next Deep Freeze
There have been quite a few cold snaps come through North Texas this winter, and odds are there will be at least a couple more before the weather starts warming up. When we get bitterly cold temperatures like we’ve had at times over the past few months, overtaxed heating systems can give out. To help keep that from happening to you the next time the mercury dips, Metro Express Services would like to share the following tips.
Keep Your Home Comfortable and Your Heater Happy
Here are some ways that you can avoid heating problems when those bitterly cold temperatures return:
- Give it a rest – On days where it’s more “chilly” than cold, give your heater a break by letting in the sun to create heat. Open your blinds and tilt them toward your ceiling. Just make sure you close them at night.
- Ceiling fans – Put your fan on low, in the reverse position. The radiant heat entering your home, combined with the fan, will help to keep warm air circulating through your home.
- Get a humidifier – When you use your heater a great deal, the air inside your home tends to get drier than normal. A humidifier can add moisture to keep you more comfortable. It can also help reduce the chances of having dry sinuses. Since moist air holds heat better, you may be able to lower the temperature and give your heating system a break.
One of the best ways you can help your heating system keep you warm and comfortable throughout winter is to have it maintained to make sure all components are working properly.
