Are Mini-Split AC Systems For You?

Arlington, TX – Mini-split air conditioners are a great alternative for cooling a room or new addition in a home that may not be equipped with ductwork. One of the benefits of a mini-split system is they are much more compact than Central AC systems. Additionally, they also produce much less noise than window units.

What Exactly is a Mini-Split Air Conditioner?

A mini-split AC, just like a traditional central heating and cooling unit, includes an indoor and outdoor unit. However, where they differ is a mini-split system does not need ductwork. It is only able to cool one room or area in a home. Mini-splits are also much less bulky, quieter, and more energy-efficient than central heating and cooling systems.

What are the Benefits of Mini-Split AC Systems?

One of the biggest benefits of mini-split ac systems is that they can save you quite a bit on energy.  Central systems cool the entire home, including rooms that may not be occupied. This is where a mini-split system really shines. Since they can be operated only when the room is occupied and can be shut off when no one is present in the room.

Another feature that makes them much more economical is the fact that they do not use ductwork. A good bit of energy is wasted when conditioned air must be transported through ducting.

They are also very convenient. With a traditional system is it breaks down; the entire home loses the ability to be cooled. With a mini-split system, if it breaks down, other rooms in the home will not be affected if they too have mini-split systems.

Another great convenience is when it comes to personal preference for family members. One member may like their room much cooler than another. Mini-split systems are also sleek and aesthetically pleasing to most rooms in a home and add a bit of a contemporary look to the indoor space.

How are Mini-Split Air Conditioners Installed?

Installation is a breeze with mini-split systems. They can be installed and up and running in as little as an hour or two. Of course, this depends on access and where the outdoor unit will be placed.  All that is required is to drill a small hole in the wall or ceiling to run the conduit through which connects the indoor unit to the outdoor unit.

They are great alternatives to homeowners that live in small homes, condos, townhomes, and even areas such as patios or garages. If you are considering a mini-split installation and you have further questions, then do not hesitate to call us.
